1972 : Que Gran Guitarrista

1972, el tercer año de la novísima decada de los 70as consolidaría las nuevas corrientes musicales que nacieron en 1971. En 1972 debutaba como solista, el "ex" integrante de los "Jackson Five", Michael Jackson, con la melancólica balada "Ben". En los Estados Unidos consagraría a Don Mclean con "American Pie" como la mejor canción de 1972.

Para 1972 aparte de Roberta Flack, América, ó el inmortal Elvis Presley que se posesionaron de los rankings de todo el mundo, hubo una grupo que se había iniciado en 1969, este grupo se llamó "Bread". Su primer álbum editado en 1969 llamado simplemente "Bread" no tuvo el éxito comercial que se esperaba, a pesar de ser un buen trabajo discográfico. Sin embargo en 1970 Bread se cobró la revancha editando "On the Waters", que contenía la balada "Make It With You", un tema clásico de la banda que les llevó al número 1.

Luego del exitoso "Manna" publicado en 1971, le siguió "Baby I'm-A Want You" de 1972. "Everything I own", fue quizás el tema que para muchos identificó éste exitoso cuarto disco de Bread. Para ese mismo año Bread editaría su quinta placa discográfica "The Guitar Man" de donde se desprende el single del mismo nombre, canción inolvidable que consagraría definitivamente a Bread. "The Guitar Man" fue la número 1, la canción de 1972 que consagraría Radio Miraflores como el tema del año.
